What is Broad Spectrum CBD?
Broad-spectrum CBD is very similar to full-spectrum in that it contains cannabinoids, terpenes and essential oils from the cannabis plant. However, broad-spectrum does not contain THC. Like other CBD products, broad-spectrum should not cause any psychoactive effects. In addition, because it contains 0% THC, it should not show up on drug tests.
How is Broad Spectrum CBD Made?
There are two ways that most companies make broad-spectrum CBD. First is to start with isolate and add the necessary cannabinoids and terpenes. The second is to start with full-spectrum and simply extract the THC. Broad-spectrum is becoming increasingly more popular and provides many great benefits.
Benefits of Broad Spectrum
The main benefit of broad-spectrum CBD is that it offers the full benefits of full-spectrum without the trace amounts of THC. Meaning, you can take it and it won’t show up on a drug test. In addition, it also will give you the desirable entourage effect. This effect helps to maximize the therapeutic elements of CBD by having multiple components of the cannabis plant work together to provide more influence than one component alone.
Side Effects of Broad Spectrum
The most notable side effects reported have been tiredness and changes in both weight and appetite. However, you won’t get some of the side effects of full-spectrum such as dry mouth due to the 0% THC in broad-spectrum. There is a danger with CBD when consumed with alcohol. There are negative interactions between alcohol and cannabinoids that can occur when taken within eight hours of each other. Alcohol increases the effects of CBD and can cause sedation, increased side effects, and other potentially negative effects.
Our Broad Spectrum Products
We have multiple CBD products from Nirvana and Select (Social) Pets that all contain 0% THC but still have the benefits of full-spectrum. Our Nirvana products include two topicals, a peppermint tincture and a 20 pack of gummies. Our pet CBD tinctures come in both chicken and bacon flavors.
Like all other CBD types and products, there is still ongoing research and the FDA is yet to weigh in on the products. While CBD has many great benefits there are still some unknowns and potential side effects. We recommend consulting your doctor to find the CBD product that is right for you.
